Brian is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan and recieved his Ph.D. from Oakland University.
Brian has a wide range of experience counseling a variety of concerns, within both individual and group settings. He has advanced training and experience working with individuals suffering from substance abuse, depression, anxiety, transitional difficulties, as well as grief and loss. Brian believes all individuals have the power to change and therapy is a process of journeying with another individual while they rewrite their story of who they are in a positive and meaningful way.
Brian uses an integrated approach that includes Existential, Narrative, and Psychodynamic ways of listening to build a strong, trusting relationship, in which change can happen. He values client’s individual and cultural differences by focusing on how personal, familial, and societal pressures influence an individual’s perception of his or her problem. Furthermore, he is appreciative and sensitive to the diversity of religious and spiritual issues.
In addition to counseling at Wentworth and Associates, Brian teaches and supervises master’s level counseling students at Oakland University. Brian is also involved in various counseling professional organizations at both the state and national level. Currently he serves as Treasurer for the Michigan Association for Counselor Educators and Supervision. Brian is a member of the Michigan Counseling Association, American Counseling Association, and the Association for Counselor Educators and Supervision.
