Shari Slebodnik, M.S., LLP

Shari has completed EMDR training.
Ms. Slebodnik is currently a full-time student, in the midst of her Doctor of
Philosophy Program, majoring in Counseling Studies with a focus on Sex/Gender
Therapy from the Harold Abel School of Psychology. Shari’s other academic
accomplishments include a Master of Science, Clinical Psychology; a Bachelor of
Science, Counseling Psychology; and an Associate of Applied Science, Criminal Justice.
Additionally, she is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),
and utilizes this technique with those affected by Child Abuse, Sexual Assault, Anxiety, and
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Shari’s professional focus has been primarily grounded within the issues and advocacy
surrounding Transgender Individuals and their friends/parents/children/significant others. She
has originated, and facilitated, an Open Transgender Support Group at Wentworth &
Associates which is dedicated to the support and encouragement of Transgender Individuals.
In addition, Shari also centers her therapeutic efforts within the LGB community, and practices
Sensitivity Training. Substance Abuse Counseling and Recovery Assistance, Adolescent and
Youth Counseling, Relationship Counseling for those in an Alternative Lifestyle, and Life-
Coaching are also among her areas of concentration.
Shari is an active member of The American Psychological Association (APA), The American
Counseling Association (ACA), and she holds a seat on the Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee
(MAC) at Affirmations in Ferndale.
