Janifer Binion, MA, LLP, LPC
Janifer Binion is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Ltd. Licensed Psychologist
who has spent over twenty years providing mental health services to Metro Detroit
and Mid Michigan residents through private practice and educational settings.
Ms. Binion’s primary clinical focus is Children and Adolescents, Families,
Relationship Matters, Women’s Issues, Career Counseling, Parenting Concerns
and Child Custody Evaluations. She also makes time available to train graduate students.
Janifer also works as a Mental Health and Education Consultant. Ms. Binion designs and
conducts educational workshops and trainings for Cultural Diversity, Healthy Living, Child and
Adolescent Well Being, Parenting Matters, and Workplace Concerns. Janifer also assists
private non profits in needs assessments, program development, grantsmanship, and more.
She currently serves as Behavioral Health support to University of Michigan Institute for Social
Research in a number of mental health studies including mental health concerns for children,
young adults, senior citizens, and others. In the past Ms. Binion has served as support to
Detroit Board of Education, Wayne State University, Michigan State University, Michigan
Commission for Handicapper Concerns, Third Circuit Court of Michigan, Michigan
Department of Education and others.
Janifer has also worked as a public administrator responsible for providing the development
and implementation of numerous mental health, substance abuse and human service programs
including services to adults, children and families, education and vocational programs, housing
and homelessness initiatives, jail diversion for those with mental challenges, criminal justice
programs and more. Ms. Binion is currently serving on the Boards of Directors of Michigan
Mental Health Counselors Association and Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health
Agency.
