David Chojnacki
Certified Conflict Resolution Specialist
Professional Mediator
Mediation is a confidential process used when people are in disagreement and
need creative options to help them resolve disputes. Agreements resulting from
mediation are binding and are backed by the Michigan Supreme Court.
Disputes can range from, but are not limited to, family disputes, separation,
division of assets, pre-divorce and divorce issues, parenting time,
neighborhood conflicts, and contract disputes. Involved parties work with
a positive, neutral mediator to establish mutual agreements that resolve disputes
for the present and the future.
With any type of conflict, emotions can run high. As a mediator I understand that individuals
involved in disputes may feel they can’t themselves work out agreements, or that others will
take advantage of them. As a certified mediator, throughout the mediation process I take the
time to gather information, communicate with individuals separately and jointly, ask questions,
ensure all parties have the opportunity to speak openly and without interruption, and check
mutual understandings. Feelings like anger, betrayal and frustration are brought to the table and
worked through. This allows for all parties to make informed decisions, which is at the core of
mediation. To reach resolution, information can be acquired from many outside parties like
lawyers, financial advisers and others needed to ensure all parties are comfortable with the end
agreement.
I received my Master Conflict Resolution Certificate at Macomb Community College in a
program approved by the Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO), and am pleased
to be a part of Wentworth and Associates and to offer this additional service to current and
new clients. With your permission, I have the opportunity to collaborate with Wentworth's
mental health professionals to facilitate a reasonable outcome for you, your family and any
others with whom you may be struggling.
