Bernadine is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor. Her educational background
includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan
and a Master's in Counseling degree from Oakland University where she received
high honors. Bernadine is a Nationally Board Certified Counselor, a member of the
American Counseling Association (ACA) and a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the International
Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.
Bernadine works with adults and adolescents in individual and group settings and uses an
integrated therapeutic approach with emphasis on Existentialism, Psychodynamic and Cognitive
Behavioral Therapies. Her goal is to promote awareness and foster positive change in the lives
of her clients. Her professional interests are vast and include:
- partner relational conflict
- anger
- anxiety
- depression
- eating disorders
- trauma
- life transitions/adjusting to change
- grief and loss
- the aging process
- career guidance
- relationship consulting (i.e., adjusting to being alone and/or preparing for the right
relationship as a single, divorced or widowed individual)
In addition, Bernadine's experience includes fifteen years as a relationship counselor and
extensive research in the field of Life Coaching. Bernadine believes that although
psychotherapy is an excellent choice for many clients, others are better assisted through the
coaching process to address self-defeating behaviors, increase motivation and gain energy.
Coaching can be utilized to strengthen communication skills, improve self-esteem, enhance our
ability to make good decisions and set obtainable, realistic goals.
Bernadine is currently accepting clients with PPOM (Cofinity), Aetna, and HAP insurances and
also accepts private pay to be discussed prior to initial meeting. Life Coaching rates are
handled on a private pay basis only and consultations can be done in person or by phone.
